CANADIAN PARENTS FOR FRENCH, TERRE-NEUVE-ET-LABRADOR ESRT GRATEFUL FOR THE FINANCIAL SUPPORT OF THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA

Halifax, July 1, 2023 – Canadian Parents for French, Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador would like to thank the Department of Canadian Heritage for its ongoing financial support, which helps our organization maintain essential programs and activities. A contribution of $164,052 will be granted to our organization to help it continue its activities under the Enhancement of Official Languages Program, Promotion of Linguistic Duality component. This funding is allocated for the 2023-2024 government fiscal year.

It is largely thanks to this financial assistance that Canadian Parents for French, Newfoundland and Labrador, has been able to provide leadership and support to members and the provincial branch for over forty years. In addition, a large part of Canadian Parents for French, Terre-Neuve-Et-Labrador’s work has also involved informing and influencing educational decision-makers and raising public awareness of the importance of French-second-language education in Canada.

This core program contribution supports and consolidates the collective efforts of Canadian Parents for French, Newfoundland & Labrador volunteers to fulfill our mandate of promoting and creating opportunities for students to learn and use French. By working together, Canadian Parents for French, Terre-Neuve-Et-Labrador can increase its impact across the country and help the Department of Canadian Heritage promote a bilingual Canada, helping to share our rich and diverse linguistic and cultural histories and continuing to build a strong and inclusive Canada, and working towards the goal of increasing the bilingualism rate of the Canadian population to 20% by 2036. We look forward to continuing our important work together in the years ahead.
