DISTRICT OVERVIEW

The Newfoundland and Labrador English School District represents all English speaking students and schools in Newfoundland and Labrador.As of June, 2022, the District includes:

  • Over 63,000 students;
  • Over 250 schools, including 5 alternate sites;
  • over 10,000 employees.

The District is managed by:

  • a Superintendent of Schools;
  • an Associate Director of Education (Programs & Human Resources);
  • Chief Financial Officer/Assistant Director of Education (Corporate Services), and;
  • and an Assistant Director of Education (Student Services).

There are four district offices in the province, located in:

  • Happy Valley-Goose Bay (Labrador Office);
  • Corner Brook (Western Office);
  • Gander (Central Office);
  • and St. John’s (Avalon Office/District Headquarters)

Each office has an Assistant Director of Education (Programs) and a variety of staff members who support schools in areas such as Programming, Human Resources, and Corporate Services (Finance, Facilities, and Information Technology).

Director of Schools, Program Specialists, Itinerant Personnel, and Support Staff are located throughout the District and work with the administrators and school communities to ensure the goals of the Strategic Plan are met and, most importantly, students are provided the opportunity for academic and personal achievement.
